Mr. Bacon is Treasurer of the Kaleida Health Foundation, and has been active on a number of other boards in the community.
Gregg M. Gellman

Formerly with Biomet Zimmer and Wilson Greatbatch, Mr. Gellman is a dynamic healthcare executive specializing in business commercialization, marketing, business development, regulatory strategy, supply chain management, project management and product innovation for both medical and technology driven markets. Mr. Gellman has served and currently serves in data-driven, strategic planning roles for both large and startup technology companies including Greatbatch Medical, Zimmer Biomet, Garwood Medical Devices, LLC. StimMed, LLC. and 22nd Century Group, Inc.
Throughout his career, he has managed the design and commercialization of technologically advanced applications and battery management systems. In addition, he has designed and commercialized various novel medical products that utilize portable power and wireless energy. These successes have been based on leveraging strong intellectual properties, implementing a swift regulatory pathway and optimizing manufacturing protocols to meet commercial timelines.
A Graduate of the State University of New York College at Buffalo, Mr. Gellman is clinically certified in operating room protocol, orthopedics, blood borne pathogens and completed the requirements for HIPPA compliance in New York State. He is also certified in Quality Systems for Medical Devices: FDA's QSR and ISO 13485 and Global Product Submissions Directive Requirements 510(k), PMA, CE Mark.
Ed Furlani, PhD
Chief Development Officer
Dr. Furlani has over 28 years of industrial research and development experience as a Senior Principal Scientist in the Eastman Kodak research labs. He transitioned to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UB in 2011 where he holds joint appointments in the Depts. of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Dr. Furlani has a distinguished record of translational research and currently holds over 150 U.S. patents. Dr. Furlani is orchestrating our “deep dive” into UB. He has assembled an interdisciplinary team of UB faculty that will work with the Garwood Medical Device team to develop and prototype Garwood Medical’s ES (electro-stimulation) devices, sensors, wireless power, data.
